Typical Summer Injuries (and how to treat them with your KEEP>GOING Kit)

Summer is for scraped knees, bug bites, and the occasional “ouch!” moment. Thankfully, with your
KEEP>GOING First Aid Kit in your bag, you're already one step ahead of the chaos. Here's how to handle the most common summer mishaps—quick, calm, and with love.

    ☀️ 1. Scraped knees & elbows

Where it happens: sidewalk, playground, pool deck
    How to treat:

    • Use a soap and water to rinse away dirt gently

    • If not available, clean the area with a non-sting cleansing wipe

    • Treat with triple-antibiotic cream, if it looks like it could get infected

    • Cover it with one of your kit’s fun, kid-friendly, or knee and ellbow bandages

    • Hand out a sticker and a kiss for the brave

    • Check and change bandages daily

🧰 All of that? Already in your KEEP>GOING Kit—yes, even the colorful bandages kids love.

    🐝 2. Bug bites & stings

Where it happens: backyard, trails, picnics
    How to treat:

    • Use the sting relief wipe to calm the itch and burn

    • Try an ice pack to cool the area

    • If itching consists, apply hydrocortisone cream

    • Cover with a kid-friendly bandage to reduce the scratching

🧰 KEEP>GOING kKts and ice packs have both itch and sting relief covered—no digging through your purse necessary.

    🔥 3. Minor sunburns

Where it happens: anywhere sunscreen was skipped or sweated off
    How to treat:

    • Get out of the sun and cool the skin with a cool compress or damp gauze

    • Apply burn gel

    • Offer extra water and keep an eye on blisters (don’t pop them!)

🧰 Your Kit includes gauze pads, medical tape, and burn gel, perfect for covering any tender skin.

    🚲 4. Bike wipeouts & scooter spills

Where it happens: driveways, parks, bike paths
    How to treat:

    • Clean the scrape with water and soap or a non-sting cleansing wipe

    • Treat with triple-antibiotic cream to reduce infection

    • Use a non-stick pad and medical tape from your kit for bigger road rash

    • Or go with a large flexible bandage if it fits

    • Hugs + stickers = best medicine

🧰 KEEP>GOING Kits are stocked with all you need to keep rolling!

    🌲 5. Splinters

Where it happens: wooden decks, picnic benches, mulch pits
    How to treat:

    • Wash hands (and reassure your squirmy helper)

    • For easy-to-reach splinters: use your tweezers to gently pull it out

    • For deep splinters, use your splinter remover tool (yep, tucked into the kit’s clear case)

    • For a tiny, almost invisible splinter (e.g., from a cactus) try dabbing the sticky side of a bandage

    • Clean with an antiseptic wipe

    • Give sticker and a hug

🧰 The most important part—stay calm! Your kids will feed off your energy. Especially with younger kids, hand them the colorful First Aid Kit for distraction. It will give their hands something to do and their eyes something to look at (especially if blood is involved). Let them help get out supplies, e.g., pick the right size and color of bandage. End with a hug and let them choose their favorite sticker. If they engage in a conversation about their choice (“I knew you’d pick the dinosaur, why is it your favorite animal again?”) you’ll know the scare is over and they’re ready to go back and play!
